IT is currently seen that Reliance Jio is going to collaborate with Luxembourg-based telecommunication company SES. They will form a partnership to build and launch satellite based broadband services across India. The venture is named Jio-Space Technology Limited. They are aiming to spearhead the development of broadband services. In this we will see a combination of geostationary and medium earth orbit satellite constellations.
What is the new service provided by Jio?
According to the information provided by Jio, the services will be capable of providing multi-gigabit links. It will also have the capacity for enterprise, mobile back-haul and retail customers at 100Gbps speed, which is the maximum speed we can find at this moment.
Jio Vs Starlink
This new step of Jio created a big threat to Elon Musk’s idea of settling in India’s internet user market. Starlink, Musk’s company is seen to be at halt due to government’s intervention regarding the licensing of its internet services. The company even had to refund the pre-orders which made the customers disappointed.
Airtel was perilously providing us with satellite- based internet services. They partnered with Hughes Communication India to provide with the services. Now, Jio has also well put a step towards space.
What is the partnership equity between Jio and SES?
In this partnership of Jio and SES, Jio holds 51% while SES holds the rest 49% equity. This aims to increase digital applications and services. This improvement towards space will not effect in their other services and the 5G service providing development will also continue.
